STEAM TOYS IN ACTION 2009

Sunday February 1st

Provisional Invitation

Dear Exhibitor

You are cordially invited to take part in The Nineteenth Annual Steam Toys in Action which will be held at the Abbey Pumping Station, Corporation Road Leicester UK on Sunday February 1st 2009 from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.

The event will be held entirely on the Museum premises. We hope to house most of the exhibitors in the Big Shed, with the Collectors Fair in the Marquee and the railways on the Beam Floor of the Engine House.   We shall have to restrict vehicle access to the exhibition areas during set up and we shall designate areas for unloading. Trolleys will be provided for movement into the display areas. Please contact the gateman for information on arrival.

We will provide tables, fuel and water for exhibitors according to your requests on the  entry forms. We hope to provide facilities for O gauge, 1 gauge, and SM32 toy locomotives . If anyone is seriously interested in operating Hornby Rockets please contact me well in advance as a track can be provided if required but space will need to be allocated. The main exhibitors areas will be the Big Shed, the Beam Engine House, the Beam Floor and the Marquee.           We intend to issue exhibitors information packs fuel etc. to exhibitors at their tables. Please contact the gatekeeper on arrival to learn your hall then contact your area marshal before unloading. Setting up will be from about eleven am and we would appreciate it if you could be set up for twelve o’clock as this will allow an hour for general shopping, socialising and mutual admiration before the hordes descend on us at the official opening hour of 1.00pm.   Tea , coffee and soft drinks can be obtained from the refreshment room against the tickets supplied in your information pack.. In view of the occasional problems with congestion it is recommended that personal supplies are also brought .We can usually supply oil and matches in emergency whilst several of our traders carry comprehensive stocks of spare parts ( bring money!).

Any stand exhibiting priced engines or accessories for general sale will be expected to have a traders licence. These are in two forms, Professional and Casual. Professional is for traders who will, in general, be situated in the Steam Toy Collectors Fair in the Marquee. Casual licences are for exhibitors who wish to sell a few engines as well as exhibit. Holders of such licences are expected to display no more than a half tableful of material for sale and as least as much as exhibits.  Sales must be of mainly of toy engines and related material.  We reserve the right to specify exactly the size and position of   all displays, commercial and private. Commercial traders will be supplied with one table per six foot allocation and must not rearrange them without permission from their area marshal. They may use their own extra tables, display stands etc provided these are situated behind the supplied tables.

The casual licence costs £5, Dealers rates are £15 per 6 foot frontage (tables supplied by us, maximum of two pitches per dealer). Pitches may be prebooked on a first come, first served, basis. A plan of the Marquee can be viewed by clicking Here. Pitches already booked are cross-hatched.

We shall be producing our usual illustrated guide which will be distributed to all exhibitors and  visitors.  Advertising rates are:  Full Page   £15,    Half Page £10    Quarter Page £5  Copy by 1st January please.

Previous years exhibitors will be mailed invitations around 1st October. New exhibitors will need to contact me for an invitation or print out and return the form which will be attached below on 14th October.

An application form will be available here from 14th October. Please print out, complete and return by surface mail by  1st January to ensure inclusion in the guide. As usual I shall not be contacting you further except in emergency unless I have an active e-mail address for you so please assume that your application has been accepted unless you hear to the contrary.
