A Horizontal Tandem Compound Pumping Engine by Hathorn Davey of Leeds, 1903. Owned and preserved by South Staffordshire Waterworks.

This engine is now under threat of removal and/or scrapping. Some of the museum exhibits may go to Claymills.(March 06)

The engine house stands in its own grounds.

 

The 302 High Pressure Cylinder is fitted with a Meyer cut off valve. The surface force pump can be seen behind the low pressure cylinder.

The well winch is mounted on top of the engine between the well pump cranks.

The 54" Low Pressure Cylinder. Stroke 5ft, RPM 10-12. The surface force pump on the left of the picture is driven by the low pressure piston tail rod.

The massive 24' diameter flywheel.The disc crank drove the condenser air pump.

A Westinghouse air pump used to pressurise the air vessels.

The well pumps are driven by the large bell cranks which were driven by rods from the crank pin..
